I’ve been alive for over twenty years and it’s probably safe to say that for a vast majority of that time I’ve been walking blind. I still may be. It’s hard to tell, I guess.

Things may just click for some people. Never did for me.

Tomorrow I want to talk about resistance. Or maybe the next day.

I think there can be comfort in isolation.

Nearing the end of the year always makes be a bit contemplative. It’s strange because I know a year ago, at this time, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with myself. I guess one could see how that has and hasn’t changed. No worries though, this won’t get too personal for those of you who don’t know me well—or don’t care to.

I want to wish you all a pleasant end of the year and if you celebrate one, a happy holiday.

Let’s hope we all can better ourselves in the upcoming year and maintain that betterment. Maybe I’ll write in this more. That sure would be exciting.

Such things are without thought

I recently purchased a box of matches.

As you may know, striking a match against the proper surface causes it to ignite. (Unless you’re using strike-anywhere matches which are hard to find.) Prior to ignition there’s a moment where there are two immediate potential outcomes: ignition or nothing. Other factors can have an impact on these two potentialities. There are days where one may sit and strike match after match after match after match igniting each one. Combustion and burn out. There’s only so much wood to burn. There are other days where one will strike and—nothing.

I’m not really sure what the point of this post is. I just wanted to write. So interesting.

I would say I’m out of ideas but that probably would be hard to defend. I’ll post something interesting at some point.

If I had any good ideas, then I probably wouldn’t be sitting here on dirty sheets waiting for my laundry to finish washing. I would probably do something more constructive because there are certainly more constructive and pressing things to do. Instead I’m writing this. Wasting my time and yours. Have a good rest of night. The BBC World Service starts in two minutes.

There are times where I feel my ability to converse has suffered. I’m not sure why. It’s disheartening. I suppose I won’t bore you with that any longer. Let’s talk about something interesting.

I was paroosing around Forgotten Ohio the other day and came across an intriguing gravestone that sits in nearby Lake View Cemetary. It’s called The Haserot Angel, presumably named after the man whose stone it sits on, Francis Haserot. [1] The bronze statue was made by a Dane named Herman Matzen who actually did a great deal of sculpting for the city of Cleveland. [2] Patination has obviously taken a toll on the fine bronze-work, giving the statue a melancholic—or sinister—look, if you will.

It’s probably okay to go to sleep when you’re tired. No use sitting around waiting to sleep. That’s a bit silly. Sit around waiting or move around waiting. Either way you’re waiting.

Snow On The Road

There’s only snow on the road in Conneaut. This is a pretty consistent phenomenon. There’s none on the roads in any of the surrounding townships, cities and villages. Only that dusty and chalky salt residue. Supposed to get awful cold tomorrow.
